Apple is expected to unveil an iPhone 14 Plus/Max version in its upcoming line of smartphones in the fall. The model should do without the “Pro” features, but offer a large display. Due to the poor sales of the mini iPhones, Apple has decided to focus on larger models, according to the rumor mill. Whether Apple will market the device as an iPhone “Plus” or “Max” is not yet known. The iPhone mini is replaced
According to rumors, the iPhone 14 Plus or Max will not only replace the iPhone mini, but will also be the same size as the iPhone 14 Pro Max with a 6.7-inch display.
It’s no secret that the 5.4-inch iPhone mini has fallen short of Apple’s sales expectations. Just two months after the iPhone 12 lineup was released, a report by analysts at CIRP showed that the iPhone 12 mini accounted for just 6 percent of iPhone sales in those first two months. For comparison, the iPhone 12 accounted for 27 percent of sales, followed by the iPhone 12 Pro and iPhone 12 Pro Max at 20 percent each.
The iPhone 13 mini launched in September 2021, and despite improvements in battery life and display brightness, sales were still sluggish. Recent data from CIRP suggests that the iPhone 13 mini accounted for just 3 percent of all iPhone sales in the second quarter.
Bigger is more popular
On the other hand, there is a growing interest in larger smartphones and this is where the iPhone 14 Plus/Max will shine. Over the years, Apple has not only increased the size of its smartphones but also released Plus and Max versions of them. The iPhone XS Max, for example, didn’t bring many improvements over the iPhone X, but its larger display was a success.
Many people also like the 6.7-inch display of the iPhone 12 Pro Max and iPhone 13 Pro Max, but opt for the regular 6.1-inch model because of the price, which leads us to the next topic.
But before that, we should realize that most users like to consume videos and photos on their iPhones and use social media. A bigger screen is perfect for watching TV, reading, playing games and more.
Cheaper than the iPhone 14 Pro Max

Still, the price sells the device, and combined with the most obvious feature – the big screen – it should add up for Apple.
Without all those “pro” features, the iPhone 14 Plus/Max will cost less than $1,000, making it the perfect option for anyone who wants a bigger iPhone but doesn’t want to pay the “premium” price tag that comes with $1,099 starts.
The best battery life in an iPhone
Considering that the iPhone 13 Pro Max offers the best battery life of any iPhone to date, one can imagine what the iPhone 14 Plus/Max will be able to do. Without the 120 Hz display, the device could offer the best battery life in the coming generation with its 60 Hz. However, it should be borne in mind here that the ProMotion technology works very efficiently. It also remains to be seen how much the A-chips of the two models will differ in terms of energy efficiency.
More weighty might be a rumor that all iPhone 14 models will have a larger battery except the iPhone 14 Pro Max. If that’s true, the iPhone 14 Plus/Max might not only have the lower consumption compared to the Pro models, but also the largest battery at 4,325 mAh.
All signs point to success
Analysts already expect that the iPhone 14 generation will be more successful than the current model line, which is also selling quite well.
