Well thought but badly done? A function of the new iPhone 14 (Pro) is currently causing strange incidents. They are amusing at first glance, but can scare a lot of people.
Full focus on the pro: This year, Apple has more than preferred the professional versions of the new iPhone 14 series. The standard models look like a meager S upgrade from previous years. One feature that all 14-generation iPhones share is this accident detection. Of all people but causes problems.
iPhone 14 (Pro): Accident detection causes false alarms
Several cases have come to light in the United States in which the Accident detection has started and has informed rescue services, although there was no accident (Source: Wall Street Journal). At that time, the owners of the respective iPhones were often on a roller coaster in the amusement park. Apparently, the iPhone 14 (Pro) misinterpreted the sudden fall of the roller coaster as an accident.
But not only on roller coasters there should have been such false alarms, also with other falls of the iPhone – For example, with a motorcyclist whose iPhone 14 Pro Max flew off the steering wheel mount. The Apple phone then informed the emergency services and the owner’s girlfriend, who was stored as an emergency contact: “I was freaking out with worry, I expected the worst,” the terrified friend told the Wall Street Journal.
In addition to emergency services, who have to deal with false accident reports, the False alarms can also give families and friends a real fright.
What else the iPhone 14 (Pro) offers:
Apple remains vague
At the moment, the incorrect accident reports from the iPhone 14 (Pro) still seem to be absolute isolated cases – they should be tend to increase, the more often the new iPhone generation is sold. It is not known if and when Apple will be able to fix the problem with an update. The US group remained vague when asked and only stated that the function would be improved over time.
Until then, iPhone 14 (Pro) owners can only switch off the function for the duration of the amusement park visit. This is sinking ⚙️ Settings → Emergency SOS → option Call after a serious accident deactivate. Alternatively, you can simply switch the smartphone to flight mode while driving.
