The approximately 100,000 employees covered by collective bargaining agreements at the car manufacturer Daimler will receive a profit participation of up to 6,000 euros for 2021. This was announced by Chief Human Resources Officer Sabine Kohleisen and General Works Council Chairman Ergun Lümali. The premium is to be paid out in February next year.
Kohleisen said: “The extraordinary development of our company is a team effort.” The past year has not been an easy one. She is all the more pleased that employees can be paid a record profit-sharing scheme. Lümali, Head of the General Works Council of Daimler AG and Mercedes-Benz AG, added that the bonus was the right signal after another turbulent year with Corona, the semiconductor crisis resulting short-time work and for many permanent home office.
Same premium at Daimler Truck
The approximately 25,000 eligible employees of Daimler Truck in Germany receive the same bonus as their colleagues in the automotive division. The company was recently separated from the Daimler Group and is to become more profitable as an independent manufacturer. For the first time, Mercedes trucks and cars are driving on separate routes. Jürgen Hartwig, Member of the Board of Management of Daimler Truck responsible for Human Resources, said that this mammoth project was able to succeed in the midst of a global pandemic, was largely due to the commitment of the employees and was a true team effort.
General Works Council Chairman Michael Brecht called the year coming to an end “an emotional ascent and descent”. This was due to the pandemic and supply bottlenecks on the one hand, as well as great economic success and the independence of Daimler Truck on the other. (dpa-AFX/gem)
