Once Bundesliga, now La Liga!
A number of former Bundesliga stars are on the ball in Spain. Toni Kroos (32/Real Madrid) and Marc-André ter Stegen (29/FC Barcelona) come to mind immediately. But can you still remember ex-Schalke player Sergio Escudero (32)?
SPORT BILD took a look at all the squads of the 20 La Liga clubs. Even former second division professionals are under contract in Spain’s elite league.
► 1.Real Madrid: Sitting on the coaching bench Carlo Ancelotti (62/Bayern Munich) a former champion coach of the Bundesliga. The squad includes four former Bundesliga stars. World Champion Tony Kroos (32), defender David Alaba (29) and right-back Daniel Carvajal (30/ex-Leverkusen) are regular players. The former Frankfurt star can do that Luke Jovic (24) only dream.
► 2. Sevilla FC: Championship fight in Andalusia instead of relegation battle with Hertha BSC. defender Karim Rekik (27) seems to have done everything right with his move in 2020. Ex-Werderaner Ludwig Augustinsson (27) also gets regular operational time. Ex-BVB stars also cavort in central midfield Thomas Delaney (30) and the former Schalke player Ivan Rakitic (33).
► 3. Real Betis Seville: Ex-Dortmunder Marc Bartra (31) has been playing for Betis since January 2018. Mexico Oldie is even longer Andres Guardado (35/formerly Leverkusen) there. The midfielder has been under contract since the summer of 2017. Juan Miranda (22) was also active in the Ruhr area, but with Schalke.
► 4th Atlético Madrid: Oh yes, the ex-Herthaner Matheus Cunha (22) has been playing for Atlético since the summer. The Berliners could currently use his creativity. In Madrid he has scored five league goals in 20 games so far.

► 19 FC Cadiz: –
► 20th UD Levant: At the bottom of the table, there are two defenders who don’t have the best memories of the Bundesliga. This is world champion Shkodran Mustafi (29) and veteran coke (34). The currently injured Mustafi has yet to win a game with Levante. Also in the squad: Jose Campana (28). He played for 1. FC Nürnberg in the second half of the season in 2013/14.
