Horizontal lines on the display
Anyone who owns an iPhone 14 Pro (Max) and exits standby mode may have already had this experience: Every now and then one or more horizontal lines appear on the screen. The color of the line sometimes changes, and some sufferers also report noticeable flickering. The phenomenon seems to occur more frequently among users who have switched off the always-on display. So far, there is no solution to the problem: some users have reset the iPhone to factory settings or reinstalled the operating system in DFU mode – nevertheless, the lines returned for many after a while. It was unclear whether it was a software or hardware error.
Apple promises software solution
According to MacRumors Apple is now taking on this matter: the company confirms in a memo that it is investigating the phenomenon and will soon be releasing an iOS update that will eliminate the bug. Cupertino outlines the error again: When switching on or unlocking the device, users see short horizontal lines on the screen. Apple is aware of the problem, the memo said. It is unclear whether Apple will fix the error with iOS 16.3 or a later version – or provide a short-term remedy with a bug fix update.
