Kuo: Apple cuts production of MacBook Pro 14″ and 16″ (2022)
The new MacBook Pro 14″ and 16″ is already in the starting blocks: mass production will begin in the fourth quarter of this year. However, Apple is revising the forecasts for the calculator downwards: Cupertino is reducing the order quantity by 20 to 30 percent, according to the industry expert in an article medium. This is an unusual step, which Kuo explains primarily with the general economic conditions: demand is declining due to the economic downturn, and interest in home office has now fallen. In his opinion, both effects last at least six to nine months. The effects can also be observed in the current models: the improved availability of the computers is not due to well-stocked inventories, but mainly to falling demand.
Few changes expected
However, Kuo asserts another reason for the lack of run on the upcoming series: Apple has given the MacBook Pro 14″ and 16″ new processors, but not much more is happening. In fact, it’s somewhat unlikely that the company will come up with a new design or panel: the current models have been extensively revised compared to their predecessors. Changes that are too serious are therefore not to be expected, which will probably reduce the incentive for many customers to switch.
