With the ProDock, the accessories specialist Brydge has introduced a new docking solution for MacBooks. According to the manufacturer, the system is compatible with the MacBook Air 2022 and the MacBook Pro 2021. Both the 14-inch and the 16-inch models should be supported.
The model is connected via a Thunderbolt 4 connection, which is supposed to provide a data transfer rate of up to 40 Gbit per second and also supplies the plugged-in MacBook Air or MacBook Pro with electrical energy – with up to 90 watts. The ProDock itself is powered by a power pack with an output of up to 135 watts.
The Brydge ProDock comes with numerous modern connections. Specifically, there are three Thunderbolt 4 ports, plus three USB 3.2 Gen 2 ports in type A, each with a power of up to 5.5 watts. The RJ45 port supports a data transmission rate of up to one gigabit per second. In addition, a USB Txp C port is installed, which supports the USB 3.2 Gen 1 standard. An SD card reader can be found next to the USB 3.2 Gen 1 port. It should be possible to connect two 4K screens with 60 Hz.
In addition, a charging pad with MagSafe compatibility is installed, which allows charging smartphones or headphones, for example. The wireless charging power is specified as up to 15 watts. The Brydge ProDock should be available from autumn 2022 and can be pre-ordered now, at least in the USA. The ProDock could also come regularly to the German market, since such as iPad keyboards (affiliate link) from Brydge are also available in this country.
