Last night Apple released another small iOS update. A good three weeks after iOS 16.1.1, iOS 16.1.2 is now available for download. According to the changelog, the new version contains important security updates and some improvements.
Specifically, Apple mentions improved compatibility with mobile network operators and the optimization of accident detection on the iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Pro models. In the case of the latter, there have recently been reports that the detection of accidents has not worked reliably. In other situations, such as roller coaster rides and skiing, an alleged accident was recognized and the emergency call was dialed automatically. It remains to be seen whether the problems with the improvements that come with iOS 16.1.2 will finally be solved.
As usual, the update to iOS 16.1.2 can be loaded directly via the settings on compatible iPhones. The download is a good gigabyte in size.
Technology has fascinated me for around 25 years – especially when it makes life easier instead of more complicated. Mobile devices such as notebooks, smartphones, tablets and smartwatches are particularly close to my heart, as is the booming topic of smart home. I have been working in these areas for many years as an editor for tests and news. I was or am working for various websites, such as the smart home blogs from homee, Nuki and siio, as well as various tech portals such as Giga and Techradar. I’ve been writing news and laptop reviews for Notebookcheck since spring 2020.
