Apple’s iPhone 14 series is one big change from the previous lineup. The 5.4-inch small iPhone 13 Mini did not get a successor because the sales figures, like the iPhone 12 Mini, were probably too disappointing. It is now replaced by the iPhone 14 Plus, which completes the current iPhone series alongside the iPhone 14, the iPhone 14 Pro and the iPhone 14 Pro Max.
Apple’s lightest 6.7-inch smartphone
The iPhone 14 Plus takes exactly the opposite form factor as the iPhone 13 Mini. At 6.7 inches, it’s the same size as the iPhone 14 Pro Max, making it Apple’s largest “non-Pro” smartphone to date. At the same time, it can also claim the title of Apple’s lightest 6.7-inch smartphone.
With the Pro series of its iPhones, Apple uses a stainless steel frame, while the “normal” iPhones are given an aluminum frame. This brings the iPhone 14 Plus to 203 grams, while the iPhone 14 Pro Max weighs 240 grams, making it feel quite a bit heavier in hand.
Outstanding battery life
The Plus version only differs from the iPhone 14 in two points: the display and the battery. The former has a slightly higher resolution of 2778 x 1284 pixels (iPhone 14: 2532 x 1170 pixels) and also uses a fixed refresh rate of 60 Hz. However, the difference is much clearer when it comes to the battery. With 4323 mAh, the iPhone 14 Plus has the much larger battery than the iPhone 14 (3279 mAh). In the test, it therefore performs a lot better in terms of battery life and achieves times that were previously reserved for the Pro models.

My fascination with computers started with the C64. Since then, everything I can get my hands on in terms of hardware has been put through its paces. From the C64 to the Amiga 500 and the first PC with an 8088 CPU, the list of projects finally got longer and longer. I’ve been turning my hobby into my job for more than 20 years and have been active in the mobile sector at Notebookcheck since 2012. Before that I worked as a hardware editor for IDG Media (tecChannel.de) and VNU Business Publications (PC Professional), among others.
