iPhone hobbyists are inspired by Samsung’s design
A few years ago, Samsung used a similar “curved” design and equipped the models in the Galaxy series with corresponding displays. However, unlike Apple’s earlier devices, the screen content also nestled around the edge. At the time, this gave the devices a futuristic look, which was additionally underlined by the magnifying glass effect of the curve. A technician who specializes in modifying iPhones was now inspired by this design language. He provided an iPhone 14 Pro Max with a curved display. He recorded the result of his work in a short video and published it on Twitter.
New display for an iPhone 14 Pro Max
The hobbyist, who appears on the short message service under the name lipilipsi, replaced the original display of the iPhone 14 Pro Max with a thicker panel with rounded upper edges. He also replaced the device’s stainless steel frame with an adapted component. All other components of the smartphone remained unchanged during the modification. However, lipilipsi did not publish any details about the modification. In his video, he only presents the converted smartphone from all sides, both with a cover and without a protective case. At least you can see that the device still works after the conversion. The technician has been known for his iPhone conversions for quite some time. In the past, among other things, he provided a smartphone from Cupertino with a transparent housing and installed a USB-C socket in an iPhone 13.
